Initially, I found it a struggle to understand many physics concepts and I barely passed my tests. I first joined Mrs Loi's class at the end of sec 3. I had been consistently failing physics with a D7, I had weak physics concepts and had a difficult time understanding the subject. However, under Mrs Loi's careful guidance I was able to improve my grades within a year! The notes she gave were concise, the practice questions were able to cater well to our knowledge level. In Secondary 3 and 4, physics was never my best subject. When I got poor results for physics in prelim 2, I wanted to give up on the subject because I thought I was destined for a B3 or 4 in the O levels. However, my mom wanted to prove me otherwise so she spent a day or so tirelesly trying to find a good physics tutor. After calling up many tuition centres, my mom finally found the one most suitable for me - Physics Haven. I had doubts that any tuition would be able to pull up my grades but I was wrong. Even though I only had about 8 lessons, each one was very enriching. My tutor, Mrs Yvonne Loi, taught me many things that I have not learnt in school, such as formats of answering questions and different formulas. This made both explanation and calculation type questions remarkably easier, rekindling the confidence I once had in my physics. As the weeks drew closer, I was not afraid for my physics at all, because I knew this tuition has my back. Where do I start? I first met Mrs Loi after my PSLE. At that time, my science was below average. But Mrs Loi was still extremely patient with me. Countless times I didn’t do my homework or did not bring my worksheets Mrs Loi still stayed the path with me even with my poor attitude! Kudos to you Mrs Loi! Fast forward to Secondary 2, my science began to improve exponentially! At that time, I was attaining constant As. However Mrs Loi saw greater potential in me and pushed me to do even better. In Secondary 3, I was top 10% in my cohort twice, 2nd in class and even topped my class once! Being in one of the best class in my cohort it was no simple feat. But all was accomplished because Mrs Loi pressed on teaching me and being patient. I will be honest, I was taking combined sciences, yet Mrs Loi treated me like a pure Physics student! I will always remember these words at Secondary 1 “I don’t care whether you are taking Combined Sciences. I will treat you like a pure Physics student”. Mrs Loi thank you! Because you saw me that way, at Secondary 5 I got A2 for my combined science! Though a little disappointed because I felt I could get an A1 and do Mrs Loi proud, but I am contented. Why? I learned MORE than physics these past 6 years! From 11 years old to 17, Mrs Loi taught me not just physics, not just increased my potential, but she also taught me life lessons and gave me numerous words of wisdom. For the past 4 years, I've been struggling and trying to shake physics off my back because I could never ever comprehend what my school teacher said so after a period of time I just didn't even try to understand. During secondary 3, my Physics was very poor and my results were mostly undesirable. I couldn't understand most of the simple concepts taught in school and struggled with the subject.
